How gel cold packs freeze and store flat
Storing a gel cold pack in your freezer takes only a few simple habits. We make our wraps and eye masks to stay pliable at cold temperatures so they mold around your face, knee, or ankle straight from the shelf.
Freezer preparation starts with laying the pack flat on a clean surface. When you place a 21.7" x 9.8" knee wrap or a circular 4.3" x 4.3" disc flat on a shelf, the gel distributes evenly across every seam before it chills. Letting the gel pool into one corner makes the pack thicker on one side and thinner on the other, so flat storage keeps the thickness uniform from edge to edge.
Most of our gel items reach working cold after two hours in the freezer. Our cooling eye masks need two hours for a ten to fifteen minute session, or thirty-five minutes if you only want a brief chill. Larger wraps for the knee, ankle, or jaw also reach a full chill in two hours. Once cold, the packs deliver between ten and twenty minutes of use per session.
Inside the fabric shell, our gel is formulated with a low freezing point down to -13 F and -18 C. Regular ice freezes into a rigid block, but our gel remains bendable and soft straight from the cold shelf. This allows the ankle wrap active area of 11.8" x 6.8" and the Y-shaped knee brace to curve around joints and limbs without cracking or resisting your movement.
Keeping smaller items tucked into the freezer door basket builds an easy habit for quick use. Many of our masks and wraps come with resealable storage bags that isolate odors and keep the plush fabric clean while resting beside other frozen goods.
Rotating between two identical packs keeps a cold surface available whenever you need another session.
